BUNT. in Barcelona: Color, Connection, and a Dancefloor with No Distance

LEER EN ESPAÑOL

BUNT. IN Barcelona, video recap by Gisela Serra Chico. TMN®.

Barcelona hosted BUNT.’s explosive energy on October 29 — a key stop on his tour and a clear display of his evolution within contemporary electronic music. The concert was part of the Primavera Tours series, which brings to the city electronic proposals with strong personality and a direct connection with the audience.

BARCELONA, By Gisela Serra Chico

BUNT., meaning colorful in German, is the alias of German artist Levi Wijk, originally from Stuttgart. The project began as a duo with Nico Crispin in 2014, and later transformed into Wijk’s solo incarnation after Crispin’s departure in mid-2021.

From the beginning, the intention was to merge electronic music with folk influences, something first reflected in remixes uploaded online. Over time, his sound evolved into a distinct identity within the stutterhouse subgenre, accompanied by a melodic, coming-of-age atmosphere that gives BUNT.’s songs their unmistakable signature.

Barcelona, being his first European stop following his tour in the United States, carried the anticipation of how this evolution would be expressed live, and what energy would accompany it — especially considering the jet lag affecting both him and his team. And indeed, the guest left no room for doubt about his continued commitment.

To open the night, Oskar Med K (Oskar with K) was responsible for guiding the crowd into an electronic trance that only grew stronger as the evening progressed. Although the Norwegian DJ only launched this project in 2023, he currently accumulates an average of 10 million monthly listeners and is known for tracks like “Can’t Find You and “Make Me Feel”, which blend house textures with a more serene pop tone.

As his music filled the venue, the audience gradually gathered around the central stage where BUNT. would perform — in contrast to the usual front-facing setup. This defining feature of the tour, stated in its very name, brings a more intimate and socially close dimension to the experience. Levi has always resisted the hierarchy commonly present during DJ sets, and thus conceived the idea of literally bringing the audience and the DJ together on the dancefloor, allowing both physical and energetic proximity to be truly felt.

The method to achieve it? Simply arriving early — no tricks, no purchased access. A philosophy Wijk applies without exception, as he stated in his The Line of Best Fit interview in mid-October:

Even my friends message before a show and ask if they can stand next to me, and I say no. That spot should go to the fans who lined up first.
— Levi Wijk

At 8:45 PM, BUNT. appeared along with his videographer to begin the set that would move the entire room. The DJ deployed a carefully balanced performance between melodic passages — featuring songs such as “TRIPPIN”, “Peace In Silence,” and “Paperplanes” — and bursts of techno/hard house driven by anthems like “Renaissance,” alongside classic remixes from contemporaries such as Fred again..

The audience was carried through a journey of varying intensity levels, accompanied by white strobe lights and live visuals created both by him and the fans.

One of the standout moments came during his new single “Spaces”, in collaboration with The Chainsmokers and Izzy Bizu, where he encouraged the entire room to jump in unison, following the movement of his arms. A dynamic that strengthened the bond between artist and admirers.

BUNT.’s performance in Barcelona was a clear demonstration of why he has managed to distinguish himself within the electronic scene: his command of melody, his ability to build climaxes and enhance the club’s energy at its peak, and his balanced fusion of musical sensitivity and strength, marked by the characteristic stutter in his works.

The audience responded with full commitment; the dancefloor experienced energy rises and falls calculated with precision, and the proposal left the impression of having witnessed something beyond a typical DJ set: a show with structure, tension, and sonic narrative — all aimed at evoking that nostalgic effect of shared meaningful moments.

For those seeking electronic music with texture, melody, and power, BUNT. is a sure bet. Barcelona can confirm it without a doubt.
