Barcelona is gearing up to host the 15th edition of the D’A Film Festival, an essential annual event that will bring together lovers of auteur and independent cinema from March 27 to April 6.

This year, the festival reaffirms itself as a key space for giving visibility to filmmakers and works that do not always find their place in the commercial circuit. It also serves as an engaging meeting point between creators and audiences, fostering dialogue and reflection on the contemporary cinematic landscape.

With a carefully curated selection, this edition’s program includes 121 global productions, which will be screened across several emblematic venues in Barcelona: CCCB, Aribau Cinemas, the Filmoteca de Catalunya, Zumzeig Cinema, and Casa Montjuïc. In parallel, a series of activities will take place, including meetings with directors, talks, and industry-related workshops—valuable experiences for both cinephiles and aspiring film professionals.

Throughout these days, a wide array of films and proposals will be screened, catering to all tastes. These include, among others, critically acclaimed debuts and a total of 52 short films, grouped into different thematic sessions.

Aware that this vast selection of options can be overwhelming, the festival offers several thematic itineraries to guide viewers and enhance their experience. Among these are Female Talent, Asian Cinema, and Catalan Cinema.

In this special edition, the festival also pays tribute to Italian director Roberto Minervini, renowned for his profound exploration of rural American life and marginalized communities. With a distinctive style that blends documentary and fiction, his career has left a significant mark with works such as Low Tide (2012), Stop the Pounding Heart (2013), The Other Side (2015), and his most recent film, The Damned (2024).
