CONCERT REVIEW

Barcelona in Ecstasy

LEER EN ESPAÑOL

This past April 22, Irish band Inhaler shook Razzmatazz with an electrifying live show that marked the start of their highly anticipated European tour.

Spain was the starting point of the Open Wide European Tour, where the young Dubliners played back-to-back shows in Madrid and Barcelona. With this long-awaited tour, they present their third studio album while revisiting the hits that have helped them forge a unique musical identity over the years.

The rock quartet, led by Elijah Hewson, quickly won over the crowd. The infectious rhythm and magnetic stage presence of Blossoms, the opening act, set the tone for a show that ignited passion throughout the Barcelona venue, with a powerful setlist rich in '80s influences.

Bursting with talent, it’s clear that Inhaler has extraordinary potential to become one of the most important bands of our time. They began as a small indie group formed by four teenagers, and ten years later, they’re taking their music around the world. We’re convinced they’ll go far — and after what we witnessed at Razz, there’s no doubt they truly deserve it.

With irresistible confidence and onstage maturity, the band delivered a solid, nostalgic sound that has been key to their rise in the music industry. This formula has not only earned them top spots on the UK charts, but also global impact and recognition, firmly establishing them as a reference point in contemporary rock. Their presence at massive festivals like Glastonbury and Lollapalooza 2025 is proof of that.

That night, the connection between the band and the crowd was as intense as it was palpable—especially during iconic tracks like “My Honest Face,” “It Won’t Always Be Like This,” and “When It Breaks,” which felt like generational anthems. We witnessed a fully committed Elijah pouring his energy into the fans, who—ecstatic—gave it their all in a night of collective catharsis. Performances like “Dublin in Ecstasy” and “Totally” showcased the vocalist’s impressive range, while he and his bandmates—Ryan McMahon (drums), Bobby Skeetz (bass), and Josh Jenkinson (guitar)—delivered a show of flawless quality.

Open Wide is the latest album from the Irish band, released this past February 7 under the Polydor Records label.

The Irish band also delighted our senses with their more playful side, performing their latest catchy tracks like “Billy (Yeah Yeah Yeah)” and the cheerful “A Question of You,” which had us dancing to a groovier pop rhythm.
