On June 5th, the legendary Primavera Sound officially kicked off at Barcelona’s Parc del Fòrum. The festival’s opening day featured major artists and bands, including FKA Twigs, Jamie XX, Idles, beabadoobee, and the iconic duo Charli XCX and Troye Sivan, who raised the bar and turned this first day into something legendary.

Like any typical summer Thursday, Primavera Sound opened its doors in the early afternoon to welcome the first attendees. The atmosphere was warmed up by the band Ultralágrima, Murcian artist Amore, Spanish rock band Yawners, and folk singer-songwriter Kate Bollinger.

As one of the highlights of the lineup, Filipino-British singer-songwriter beabadoobee brought her sweetness and energy to the Estrella Damm stage in the mid-afternoon, performing her well-known tracks “the perfect pair” and “death bed (coffee for your head).”

Camouflaged in the grass of that area, the Teens Media Network team had the chance to interview some Charli XCX fans—easy to spot thanks to the artist’s iconic merch (that font and that intense green color).

Without a doubt, Irish singer CMAT delivered one of the standout performances of the day, with a unique style and infectious energy that spread through the thousands who gathered and packed the Cupra stage to dance and sing along to her songs.

As the sunset marked the midpoint of this first day, many chose to dance to the most rebellious techno music at Cupra Pulse, where Fcukers DJ Set and The Dare DJ Set kept the crowd hypnotized and dancing nonstop. This dance zone was also located right by the seafront, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a good drink with an unbeatable view.

The highlight of the day came when the screens at the Estrella Damm stage lit up in neon green and flashed a single word: SWEAT. That’s when the madness and built-up anticipation—felt all day as half the festival seemed to be wearing the official Brat Summer uniform—completely exploded.

With “Got Me Started,” Troye Sivan took the stage and danced, visibly moved by one of the biggest and most passionate crowds. After singing several songs, Troye himself shouted with excitement: “I think this is the biggest festival we’ve ever been to. This is insane. It’s my f*cking birthday!”

With the unmistakable “365 Remix,” British artist Charli XCX picked up where her fellow performer left off, delivering an irresistible, high-energy show that, as always, felt more like a grand performance than a typical concert. She roamed the massive stage from end to end (which, though enormous, still seemed too small for her presence) and even performed one song from the barricade to get closer to her fans.

To top off this magical night, singer-songwriter Chappell Roan—who’s set to perform at Primavera Sound in a few days—made a surprise appearance during the iconic “Apple,” filling those final moments with tears of emotion and hoarse screams from the crowd.

Without a doubt, this first day of Primavera Sound lived up to the highest expectations set in previous years and kicked off what promises to be a truly unique edition—treating us to great music, an incredible summer atmosphere, and iconic performances that we’ll keep reliving as we watch the videos from tonight.
