We first experienced Puzzled Panther live at Mohawk in Austin during SXSW 2026. The performance confirmed what has been building around the band in recent years. Their presence reflects a new phase of New York’s underground punk scene that connects legacy figures with a younger generation of artists.

Promoted by Casa Gogol Records, the label founded by Eugene Hütz of Gogol Bordello, Puzzled Panther represents a continuation of the city’s tradition of artist-led mentorship and community driven music culture. Their SXSW set included a guest appearance by Hütz, reinforcing the intergenerational dialogue that defines this project.

Based in New York City and led by Victoria Espinoza and Kay Bontempo, the band operates at the intersection of post punk, dance punk, and experimental rock. Their sound draws from the city’s historic punk lineage while incorporating rhythmic structures and production approaches associated with contemporary indie and electronic scenes.
