Inside Sasha Velour’s NightGowns at BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn!

Sasha Velour brought her long-running Brooklyn drag show to the Lena Horne Bandshell in Prospect Park, joined by a lineup of New York performers for one of the final nights of BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn!’s 2026 season.

On August 21, Sasha Velour brought NightGowns to the Lena Horne Bandshell in Prospect Park as part of BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn!, expanding the show she first created in Brooklyn more than a decade ago to the park’s outdoor stage.
NightGowns has developed through performances that move between drag, lip-sync, dance, music, costume, comedy, and other forms of live performance. For this edition, Velour was joined by Beaujangless, Charlene Incarnate, Julie J, Lady Quesa, Linda Felcher, Maxxx Pleasure, Miss Ma’amShe, Patti Spliff, Reina Nobuena, Sherry Poppins, Tyler Ashley, and DJ Horrorchata.

She was crowned Miss Bushwig in 2023 and Entertainer of the Year at the Glam Awards in 2024. Photos above: Sherry Poppins is an NYC-based drag queen and co-founder of the two-time Glam Award–winning show STR8 to DVD. Active in New York drag for more than a decade, she was also voted Best Host last year.
Beaujangless is an NYC-based performance artist and social media personality from Puerto Rico. She has appeared in Harper’s Bazaar, New York Magazine, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, and PAPER, and has performed at events including the Moschino Coachella after-party, All Things Go, and shows with Chappell Roan and JADE.
Charlene Incarnate has produced and performed across New York for more than 13 years, with appearances at Bushwig, Wigstock 2.0, the Brooklyn Museum, and The Public Theater. Her screen work includes Netflix’s Glamorous and Julio Torres’ Problemista, alongside a long-running presence in Brooklyn drag and nightlife.
Patti Spliff is a Brooklyn-based drag queen and visual artist known for her 60-inch wigs and heavy eyelashes. She is the creator of Sas Songs and has been part of the BUSHWIG family since 2013.

Photos above: Maxxx Pleasure is a Brooklyn-based drag artist who has been performing in New York for more than 12 years. Known for homemade props and story-driven performances, he hosts and produces Guilty Pleasures, a monthly drag show in Brooklyn.
Reina Nobuena is a first-generation Salvadoreña born and raised in New York City. She has appeared in Chappell Roan’s The Subway music video and on the Pride cover of Time Out New York.
Tyler Ashley is a dance, drag, and performance artist whose work has been presented by Performa, The High Line, Times Square Alliance, Brooklyn Museum, BAM, The Public Theater, New York Live Arts, and other venues. Also known as The Dauphine, she works across nightlife, performance, production, and choreography.
Lady Quesa is a Brooklyn-based drag queen originally from El Paso, Texas. A longtime member of Bushwig and resident MC at YasMama, Quesa also works in arts programming and creative youth development, supporting young people ages 13–24.

Photos above: Miss Ma’amShe is an NYC drag performer whose work blends comedy, social media culture, fashion, and satire, offering a deliberately different take on contemporary drag.
Linda Felcher is a Brooklyn-based multimedia drag artist who has been part of the city’s nightlife scene for more than a decade. Their work explores the body, gender, and transformation through masks, makeup, puppetry, and video. They were named Mx. Congeniality at Mx Nobodies in 2018 and Mx. Pure Garbage by Wussy Mag in 2022, where they are also a contributing writer.

NightGowns closed the night with the kind of performances that make the Lena Horne Bandshell feel less like a concert venue and more like a stage built for transformation, character, and risk.
