Bedroom Pop

Manchester artist TTSSFU, the project of Tasmin Nicole Stephens, has moved quickly from local fixture to one of the most closely watched names in the UK indie scene. Her work began in a bedroom setup, building songs in GarageBand that translated lo fi intimacy into something more expansive.

Early releases set the tone. Her 2024 EP Me, Jed and Andy introduced a sound that blends atmosphere with direct songwriting, drawing attention beyond Manchester and positioning her within a new wave of independent artists working outside traditional studio frameworks.

That momentum has carried into the live space. Touring alongside artists like Kim Deal, English Teacher, Soccer Mommy and Mannequin Pussy, TTSSFU has steadily expanded her reach, moving from small rooms to sold out headline shows and key festival stages across the UK.

At SXSW, that progression was clear. The performance balanced the emotional core of her recordings with a broader sonic scale, translating layered production into a live setting without losing clarity or focus. TMN also sat down with TTSSFU during SXSW for an interview, offering further insight into the project and its evolution.
