On August 15, BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! presented Americana Night at the Lena Horne Bandshell in Prospect Park, featuring Cleo Reed, Dom Flemons and the Traveling Wildfires, and Yola. The event was part of BRIC’s America 250 programming and brought together three artists working across different branches of American roots music.

Cleo Reed
Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary artist Cleo Reed opened the night. Reed’s music combines blues, soul, country, and electronic elements, a mix central to their 2025 double album CUNTRY. Raised between New York City and Washington, D.C., Reed has developed work across music, performance, installation, textiles, and instrument-making.

Dom Flemons and the Traveling Wildfires
Dom Flemons and the Traveling Wildfires followed with a set drawing from more than a century of American roots music. Flemons is a musician, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, historian, and co-founder of the Carolina Chocolate Drops, the first Black string band to win a Grammy Award. His work connects folk, blues, country, and other traditions while documenting the history behind them.

Yola
Yola closed Americana Night. The six-time Grammy-nominated British-Nigerian singer and songwriter has built a career across country, soul, rock, R&B, and Americana. Her albums Walk Through Fire and Stand for Myself established her in the U.S., while her more recent material has expanded further into R&B and electronic production.
