Make Their Sónar Debut in Barcelona

The British electronic pioneers brought their explosive live show to Sónar 2026, marking their first appearance at the Barcelona festival.

More than three decades after emerging from the UK rave scene, The Prodigy finally made their Sónar debut on June 20, taking over SonarClub during the final night of the 2026 edition.
Led by producer and founding member Liam Howlett and longtime frontman Maxim, the group delivered the kind of high-intensity performance that has defined their live reputation for decades.
For a band whose history runs almost parallel to Sónar itself — The Prodigy broke through in the early 1990s, while the Barcelona festival launched in 1994 — their first appearance at the festival had been a long time coming.
Maxim commanded the front of the stage throughout the show, while Howlett drove the electronic core of the performance from behind his setup.
The current live incarnation of The Prodigy continues the group's story following the death of Keith Flint in 2019. Rather than bringing in a replacement for Flint, the band has continued with Maxim — a member since the early 1990s and already one of its defining voices and performers — taking an even more central role onstage.

At Sónar, the result still felt unmistakably like The Prodigy: aggressive electronic production, punk energy and a crowd responding to music that has crossed generations.
Sónar 2026 took place June 18–20 at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona.
