BRIC JazzFest returns to Downtown Brooklyn on October 16 and 17 for its 12th edition, bringing together established musicians and emerging artists for two nights of live performances at BRIC House. This year's lineup includes Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, Bilal, Mohini Dey, Takuya Kuroda, Braxton Cook and several other artists working across different styles of jazz.

One of Friday's main performances will feature Grammy-winning pianist and composer Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, presenting a tribute to Randy Weston. The Brooklyn-born pianist and composer, who died in 2018, was known for his work connecting American jazz with African musical traditions. O’Farrill, a longtime figure in New York's Afro-Latin jazz scene, continues that musical connection through his work as a performer, composer and bandleader.

Friday's program also includes singer Bilal, whose music combines R&B, soul and jazz, alongside Japanese trumpeter Takuya Kuroda, known for incorporating hip-hop and funk into his compositions. Drummer Marcus Gilmore, singer Laura Anglade and Sparklmami complete a lineup that brings together musicians from different generations and backgrounds.

Saturday's performances include Indian bassist Mohini Dey, whose technical approach and compositions draw on jazz fusion, rock and Indian music. Saxophonist and singer Braxton Cook brings his combination of jazz, soul and R&B, while vocalist Tyreek McDole, percussionist Salin and Melvis Santa with Gata Jazz are also scheduled to perform.

The festival will take place across three stages inside BRIC House, allowing audiences to move between performances throughout the evening. The program also includes Next Gen Jazz, featuring younger musicians Devon Gates, Nathaniel Coben, Isaac Byrd and Ruby Laks in the VIP Lounge.

With artists representing different musical traditions, BRIC JazzFest continues to offer Brooklyn audiences a program that includes both established names and musicians developing their careers in contemporary jazz.
