TMN EXCLUSIVE!

Heri Iznaga Brought the Vibes, the Heart, and the Hype to Pride

Exclusive interview with Heri Iznaga at the World Pride Music Festival, Washington, D.C. By Marisa Carper (TMN).

Let’s be real: some artists perform. Others connect. Heri Iznaga? He did both…and then some.

If you were at the DuPont Stage after the Pride parade, you already felt it. Heri didn’t just sing. He shined. Literally. His sparkly shirt caught the light, and so did his energy. The music hit, the crowd vibed, and someone literally screamed “YOU ARE SO CUTE!” mid-set. (Honestly? Facts.)

But Heri’s not just a voice. He’s a voice that matters—especially for queer teens, artists, and anyone figuring themselves out.

Heri’s Story Hits Different

Heri Iznaga is a Cuban-American singer, songwriter, and music producer. His sound lives somewhere between dance-pop and electronic, but it’s packed with emotion. He blends feel-good beats with lyrics that hit home.

He started writing music just to deal with his feelings. That honesty is still at the core of everything he creates.

“Basically, what started me into music... just a way to express what I was going through.”

He came out at 14 and has always been about staying true to who he is.

I’ve always been this fearless kid who has never been afraid to express himself openly.
— Heri Iznaga

The Setlist That Had Everyone Moving

Heri performed four songs, and each one landed with serious impact.

“Forever” pulled everyone in
“Morning Haze” kept the energy warm and steady
“Friend” was unreleased at the time, and now that it’s out, you need it in your playlist
“Tides” exploded with energy and ended the set with the crowd dancing nonstop

Heri brought so much joy to the stage, it was contagious. He danced like he meant it, smiled at fans, and made everyone feel seen. The Pride crowd fed off his energy, and it felt like a true celebration.

Real Talk: Heri’s Advice to Teens

When we asked Heri what advice he would give to teens chasing their dreams, he didn’t hold back.

"Be fearless. If this is your passion, or whatever your passion is, just go for it."

"If you have this deep desire in your heart, just do it. And things happen along the way. It all starts to click eventually."

"It doesn't matter if you're straight, gay, lesbian, queer. It doesn't really matter. It's just who you are. And if it's in the cards for you, if it's what God has in purpose for you, it will happen."

And maybe the most important reminder of all:

Always believe in yourself first. I know it’s such a cliché thing to say, but it truly works. I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t believe in myself fully.
— Heri Iznaga

Why Heri Matters Right Now

In a world where teens are constantly told to tone it down, Heri does the opposite. He shows up fully as himself. Loud, joyful, emotional, fearless. That’s what makes him so powerful.

He makes music for the kids who don’t always feel like they fit in. The ones chasing big dreams. The ones still figuring out who they are. Heri is proof that you don’t need to follow the rules to make something real. You just need to trust yourself and go all in.
