A new generation of Mexican artists will take the stage during SXSW 2026 as Sony Music Latin presents The New Sounds of Música Mexicana, a showcase highlighting emerging voices shaping the evolving sound of Mexican music.
AUSTIN | TMN Editorial
The event will take place on March 16 at Mala Fama in Austin and brings together artists exploring contemporary interpretations of regional and cross genre Mexican sounds.
The lineup includes Óscar Ortiz, Mariangela, Ian Córdova, Poe Leos and DJ Funky Caramelo, with a special performance by Bu Cuarón.
Each artist approaches Mexican music from a different angle. Poe Leos blends Latin pop, R&B and urban influences in a bilingual style shaped between Chihuahua, Illinois and Los Angeles. Ian Córdova represents a new wave within regional Mexican music, connecting corrido storytelling with a modern aesthetic. Mariángela introduces a fresh voice that reimagines traditional influences through contemporary production.
Óscar Ortiz mixes regional roots with pop and electronic elements, while DJ Funky Caramelo will guide the night with a set combining cumbia, norteño rhythms and electronic textures.
The showcase reflects the growing international presence of Mexican artists and the role of SXSW as a global platform where new musical movements often begin to reach wider audiences.
