Sónar Day 2: Culture, Tech & Dancefloors in Motion
Sónar +D: How can culture weave bonds, heal fractures, and strengthen the social fabric of our societies? Photo: Pablo Herrera (TMN).
Friday, June 13th, kicked off with a powerful question at the heart of Sónar +D: How can culture weave bonds, heal fractures, and strengthen the social fabric of our societies?
From early in the day, the Sónar Àgora stage became a meeting point for reflection and conversation—transforming into a space where creators, thinkers, and innovators explored how culture can respond to the challenges of our time.
Meanwhile, at the Sonar +D expo, one of the standout moments was our chat with South Korean artist Hwia Kim (@hwihwic), who introduced her “baby robot” and dove into the blurry boundaries between consciousness, the body, and technology. Her work sparked big questions about the essence of being human in an increasingly digitized world.

Sónar by Night: Lights On, Volume Up
Sónar by Night launches tonight with a heavyweight lineup that showcases the full spectrum of electronic music.
Angel Molina, a true legend of Spanish techno, opens the night with a rare and intimate set. Known for his esoteric taste and deep musical curiosity, his set will likely traverse unexpected sonic landscapes while still hitting hard on the dancefloor.
Next up: BICEP, the Belfast duo whose emotional, genre-defining sound has taken them from blog curators to global stars. Returning to Sónar with their new AV/DJ show “CHROMA”, BICEP go back to their club roots—accompanied by the ever-stunning visuals of Zak Norman.
Later in the night, international icon Peggy Gou takes the stage. With the recent release of her debut album I Hear You, Gou will present a set blending her signature disco-infused house with underground surprises—always delivered with her unmistakable style.
Then there’s Max Cooper, the scientist-turned-sound-sorcerer, who will premiere a new AV show titled Lattice 3D/AV. Drawing inspiration from thousands of anonymous fan quotes, Cooper’s performance fuses emotional storytelling with mind-bending visual and sonic design.
And to close it out, the legendary Four Tet returns. Known for seamlessly mixing everything from UK garage to ambient jazz, his genre-blurring DJ sets are immersive, uplifting, and always unpredictable—perfect for a night like this.
