The connection is not accidental. While making We Were Just Here, the band spent time listening to Ultra Truth, especially the track “Only.” According to Katie Ball, that’s where a clear overlap between their worlds started to take shape.
Avery picks up on that and pushes it further. The remix runs on steady breakbeats, layered textures, and a low end that keeps shifting instead of settling. Ball’s vocals sit inside that space, closer to a late night atmosphere than a fixed song structure.
The identity of the original stays intact, but the direction changes. Where the track once held back, this version lets it move.
Avery put it simply: hearing the band reference breakbeats was enough to know where to take it.
The result lands somewhere between distortion and rhythm, with a clear sense of intent behind it.
