Sabrina Carpenter shone with her own light on Primavera’s Friday lineup

LEER EN ESPAÑOL

The madness continues on the second day of Primavera Sound: the Parc del Fòrum once again fills with music and powerful emotions, thanks to a lineup packed with top-tier artists like HAIM, Wolf Alice, Carolina Durante, and Sabrina Carpenter — the undisputed queen of the night.

Musical diversity set the tone on June 6, with performances ranging from the Japanese duo YOASOBI, to the intimate folk of Waxahatchee, and the punk freshness of Amor Líquido. As the afternoon progressed, large crowds began to form — a clear sign that the best was yet to come. One of the most anticipated acts was Wolf Alice, who did not disappoint, delivering a powerful dose of pure alternative rock to the festival. This group, a staple of today’s British scene, led a full hour of sonic catharsis, during which Ellie Rowsell captivated the crowd with her magnetic stage presence and overwhelming vocal power. The intensity of their raw sound filled the air, with highlights including fan favorites like “Don’t Delete The Kisses” and “Bloom Baby Bloom.”

If there’s one thing Primavera always delivers, it’s surprise: Kevin Parker, the mastermind behind Tame Impala, was announced as a last-minute addition for an exclusive DJ set at Cupra Pulse. The news spread quickly, and the Australian artist lived up to the hype with an unexpected set that lit up the dance floor.

With the last rays of sun still lighting up the Barcelona sky, the women of HAIM took the stage ready to share their carefree energy and uninhibited spirit. Sisters Este, Danielle, and Alana radiated confidence and fun from the very first moment, accompanied by their signature guitars as they performed some of their best-known tracks, including “Relationships,” “The Steps,” and “Want You Back.” The crowd’s response—singing along and cheering nonstop—confirmed why they’re considered the coolest all-female band of the moment.

As night fully settled in, Beach House took over to slow the pace with a hypnotic, immersive live set. Shrouded in layers of smoke and dreamy visuals that transported the audience completely, the band delivered their signature dream pop with elegance, guiding the crowd into a collective trance.

People from all over gathered in Barcelona to enjoy the concert of global star Sabrina Carpenter. Pastel-colored outfits, corsets, platform boots, and countless kiss tattoos filled a crowd ready for the occasion and glowing with excitement.

However, all expectations were surpassed by what we witnessed. With an extraordinary level of production, costumes, and choreography, Sabrina captivated everyone, delivering a show that only a theatre kid like her could offer. Not only that, but the American singer also shone vocally in both the upbeat tracks like “Juno,” “Busy Woman,” and “Feather,” as well as in the ballads, creating beautiful interpretations such as “because i liked a boy.”

Before the concert, the TMN team asked some of her fans what they liked most about the artist, and they all agreed on her charisma, humor, femininity, and catchy songs. It’s that essence—balancing silly, sweet, and spicy—that has made Sabrina Carpenter a pop icon for our generation.

Sabrina was warm and charming in her interaction with the audience, and two of the most special moments of the concert were the performance of “Espresso,” already established as a summer anthem, and her first live rendition of the newly released song “Manchild,” which was met with great excitement and enthusiasm by the crowd.

The magic of Primavera Sound lies in its ability to bring together a wide variety of genres and artists from different nationalities in a single space, where every taste has a place. That’s why, simultaneously, the Madrid-based band Carolina Durante gave their all on the Amazon Music stage, and shortly after, the late-night session for the bravest began, featuring acts like the British duo Wet Leg and closing with Amelie Lens past 4 a.m., delivering pure, unfiltered industrial techno.
