How Do We Discover Our Passion?
In this episode of TMN Creative Thinking, Hasi Kapali reflects on her first experience covering the Big Picture Learning Big Bang Conference as a creator with Teens Media Network.
Over three days, she stepped outside her comfort zone, interviewed educators and participants, and discovered a passion she didn't expect to find. Throughout the conversation, she shares how working on real assignments helped her become more confident, why meeting people from different backgrounds expanded her perspective and how learning by doing transformed the way she thinks about journalism, storytelling and creativity.
She also reflects on the importance of mentorship, self-discovery and curiosity, explaining why trying new experiences is often the first step toward finding what we truly enjoy.
The conversation concludes with a discussion about why TMN prioritizes real-world experiences before technical skills, and how meaningful learning happens one step at a time.
The interview was conducted by TMN creator Emil Cinto, with additional questions by Pablo Herrera, during the Big Picture Learning Big Bang Conference 2026 in Dallas, Texas.
